1. The P5+1 group comprising of US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany will hold talks with Iran in Geneva tomorrow over Teheran’s controversial nuclear program.

2. Iraqi today hanged 12 prisoners convicted of terrorism-related charges. A Justice Ministry official said that all of those executed were found guilty for carrying out terrorist attacks.

3. German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be awarded the coveted Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2013 with an international jury headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh choosing her.

4. Iran on Monday unveiled a missile-equipped drone with a range of 2,000 kilometres (1,200 miles), the official IRNA news agency reported.

5. The first branch of India's first all-woman bank -- Bharatiya Mahila Bank -- opened in Lucknow on Tuesday. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi inaugurated the branch via video conferencing from Mumbai

6. Defending champion Viswanathan Anand could not break through the defences of challenger Magnus Carlsen and had to be content with a draw in the eighth game of the World Chess Championship on Tuesday.

7. The UN Security Council has unanimously called on Somalia to pass laws banning seafaring pirates off its coasts and urged the east African nation to more aggressively combat them and the crime lords on land who finance and organize their raids.

11. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated the first branch of Bharatiya Mahila Bank today in the iconic Air India building at Nariman Point in Mumbai with an area of 5,000 sq ft space on the ground floor. Bhartiya Mahila Bank, an all-women’s bank, will have a network of 25 branches by March 2014, according to Finance Minister P Chidambaram. Usha Ananthasubramanian, who was the Executive Director of Punjab National bank, will be the Chairperson of the bank. Headquartered in Delhi, Bhartiya Mahila Bank’s seven branches would become operational across the country, including Kolkata, Chennai, Ahemdabad and Guwahati from today.

12. National Integration Day observed on 19th of November all over India. It is celebrated as the birthday anniversary of the first woman prime minister of the India, Indira Gandhi. National Integration Day is celebrated every year in India by conducting variety of programmes and activities like Inter State Youth Exchange Programme (ISYEP), National Integration Camp (NIC), National Youth Festival, National Youth Award and etc.

13. The World Toilet Day (WTD) was observed across the world on 19 November 2013. In the world about a third of the world’s people don’t have an access to a decent toilet. As per the United Nations about 2.5 billion people do not have an access to adequate sanitation and about 1 billion people practice open defecation, which contributes many diseases. The World Toilet Organization created World Toilet Day to raise global awareness of the struggle 2.5 billion face every day without access to proper, clean sanitation.

14. President of India Pranab Mukherjee on 19 November 2013 presented Indira Gandhi National Service Scheme Best University Award 2012-13 to Mangalore University of Karnataka. Mangalore University is fourth in the row of universities winning Indira Gandhi NSS Award in Karnataka. Prior to this university, RGUHS, Bangalore University, and UAS Dharwad had received this award. The award comprises a memento and a citation along with a cash prize of 2 lakh Rupees.

15. German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel has been nominated for Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for the year 2013. The International Jury for the Prize was chaired by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, which made this announcement today. Dr. Merkel has been nominated for her exemplary leadership in Europe and the world during the financial crises, her commitment to universal peace and disarmament and her leadership role in strengthening productive and mutually beneficial relations with India and other developing countries.

16. The Reserve Bank of India on 18 November 2013 opened a 5000 crore rupees refinance window for MSME sector, for a period of one year to ease the liquidity. The view of easing the liquidity stress to the Micro and Small Enterprises sector was taken by the RBI to provide refinance to the small Industrial Development Bank of India. The availability of the refinance facility will be till 13 November 2014.

17. Top Indian industrialist Ratan Tata has returned as a board member of East West Centre, a prominent American think tank. Tata, 75, is returning to the board and has worked with the organisation several times between 1993 and 2004. East West Centre also elected Takeshi Niinami, the CEO of Japan’s Lawson Inc. East West Centre is an education and research organisation established by the US Congress in 1960 to strengthen relations and understanding among the peoples and nations of Asia, the Pacific and the US.

18. Australia will support India’s membership of the Nuclear Supplier Group, the newly appointed Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said here on Monday. NSG is a multinational body concerned with reducing nuclear proliferation by controlling the export and re-transfer of materials that may be applicable to nuclear weapon development and by improving safeguards and protection on existing materials. The UK has for a long time been a supporter of India’s membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

19. Iran on 18 November 2013 unveiled a biggest missile-equipped drone with a range of 2000 km, which would enable it to cover much of the Middle East, including Israel. The drone named Fotros has an operational range of 2000 kilometres and can fly at an altitude of 25000 feet, with a flight time of 16 to 30 hours. The drone could carry out reconnaissance missions or launch air-to-surface missile strikes.

20. Nirupama Rao, the former Indian Ambassador to the US, has been named as the ‘Meera and Vikram Gandhi Fellow’ with the Brown-India initiative at the Watson Institute for International Studies.

21. The book entitled Birth of Cinema written by N. Gopal Krishna was released at ICFFI media centre by a Journalist T. Udayawarluon 18 November 2013. The book comprises of details related to the advanced cinematic technologies like the 3D shootings and Voice enhancements and others, which were popularized by the Hollywood directors. He is a film maker of Andhra Pradesh.
