1. Sachin first sportsperson to win country’s highest civilian honour with Bharat Ratna. The award will also be conferred on eminent scientist Prof CNR Rao, a statement issued by the PMO said.

2. International Day for Tolerance was observed on 16 November 2013 across the world to educate people about the need for tolerance in society and to aware them about the dangers of intolerance.

3. The 22nd Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, CHOGM began in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 15 November 2013. The Summit was inaugurated by Prince Charles of England, who is representing Queen Elizabeth at the Commonwealth Summit.

4. Lord Swraj Paul, a leading NRI industrialist and educationalist was presented with the International Indian of the Decade award on 15 November 2013. Swraj Paul was presented the award for his outstanding achievements in the fields of industry, education and philanthropy.

This sets up an interesting two-Test series between number-one ranked South Africa and India to be played next month in Johannesburg and Durban.
