The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee on 31 August 2013 conferred Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award 2012. Two Army personnel received the prestigious award. They are :-
Major Ranveer Singh Jamwal, VSM, has led 20 expeditions in India and abroad. He was Dy Ldr of Indian Army Women Expedition to Mt Everest in 2012 in which he led the climbing team to the top on 25 May 2012. He was also the leader of Jt Indo-Nepal Army Everest Expedition in 2013 in which a record number of 20 members summitted the peak on 19 May 2013.
Nb/Sub Parmjit Singh Sidhu is a pilot in the sport of Hang Gliding. In 2010, he established new national record for endurance and distance in a single flight, 240 kms in five hours thirty minutes. In 2012, he set a world record, duly ratified by the FAI, for the longest distance covered to a stated goal, a distance of 313 kms from Bikaner to Sanderao in Rajasthan.
