1. India successfully launched GSLV-D5 from Sriharikota. GSLV-D5 with indigenous cryogenic engine successfully places GSAT-14 communication satellite on orbit. 

2. Gujarati poet Chinu Modi has been conferred the Sahitya Akademi Award for the year 2013 for his poetry book "Khara Zaran", an official statement said.

3. National Human Rights Commission issues notices to seven states for non-payment of wages under MGNREGA.
